Blog Neglect

March 27, 2008

Wow. I’ve really neglected this blog for the past few months. I came down with pregnancy a few months ago. It struck me with the desire to do nothing other than sit on the couch and sleep for a long long time. I’m now getting some of my energy back and actually went out and swam today.  New posts to come!

Bust Magazines Craftacular

December 8, 2007

Today I went downtown to Bust Magazines Craftacular Craft Fair.  Upon first entering the venue I wasn’t too pleased to find you had to pay to get in. It had been noted no where on any of the advertisements or website and all I could see was a line of people shoving dollars into a box. Luckily it was only 1 dollar – but please- if there is a cover you must disclose that fact! Anyway, the venue was quite large and there were 200+ vendors. I got there around noon and it was crowded.  I picked up a few items that I couldn’t resist. I got a necklace from junxtaposition – an old typewriter key (my names’s first letter) on a simple ball chain. The other lovely item I purchased was from Little Flower Designs. Little Flower Designs is handmade pottery. It’s really amazing, though on the expensive side. The tea cup I picked up is pictured below and I simply love it.

Two other vendors I liked were Sarah Apple - block prints on shirts and such. I was going to get a nesting doll tee-shirt, but they were out of my size and Squidfire – more shirts with some really great and some not so great prints. I liked there outterspace and deep sea motifs.

Heart & Soul Pilates

December 1, 2007

Heart & Soul Piliates is a piliates studio in Brooklyn NY. It opened in Williamsburg in Sept of this year. They offer reformer, springboard and mat classes at low rates. It is owned and run by a dear friend of mine – Marie Grillo and her twin sis Lora. Due to Marie’s unyeilding love of Piliates I have been taking classes with her and I’m amazed at the changes that have occured with my body. I am offically addicted. I feel tall, relaxed and strong after each session. I swear that my neck is longer and my waist has compressed to a smaller size. It’s simply awesome! So, here’s to Marie and her studios continued success!

Sick

October 8, 2007

Ugh. Being sick sucks. You get to stay home from work for a day or two, which is awesome, however you can’t enjoy that time off. You feel too crap to do even the littlest things. Boredom reaches new heights. Sigh.

Sofa

September 14, 2007

After much work dh and I have ordered a sofa, for the second time. I cross my fingers that we don’t get any out-of-stock replies next week. It’s not as sleek as the first sofa we picked out, but I like it’s soft comfy look and roundness. It’s less then five feet wide and real leather too.

Pillowcases

Here is a picture of all of the pillowcases together on the bed. My favorite is still the blue floral print.

Weekend Wrap Up

August 16, 2007

So, last weekend I took the greyhound bus to visit my friend in Ithaca. The ride up wasn’t bad at all and the driver was the right mix of friendly and professional. The way back however, was not so pleasant. First the bus was late, next the bus was stuck in construction traffic then just as I thought we were free of the construction mess the bus driver pulls off the road and into a Burger King parking lot. The bus stops and I hear : 15 minute break. Sigh. About 90% of the bus population couldn’t resist the fast food slop and trotted off the bus. I sat and listened to music and psyched myself up for the fantastic way the bus was about to smell. I made it back over an hour late and my sweet dh was there at the bus station waiting to take me back home.  A few hours later and a belly full of delivery Vietnamese and my world was right again.

While in Ithaca I spent an afternoon visiting a few vineyards. The vineyards we visited were Sheldrake Point, Lucas Vineyards and Americana Vineyards. They were all nice and I bought a few bottles to take home with me.

The other countryish thing we did was hike the rim trail at Taughannock Falls State Park. It was quiet and pretty and a good hike.

Travel & More Potholders

August 9, 2007

Today I’ll be leaving to visit a friend for an extended weekend here. I have also made a few new pot holders, which I will be giving to my friend today for her new apt.
