Recipie – Black Bean Burgers
December 18, 2007
I’ve decided to start adding recipies to this blog. Below is a easy and tasty recipie for Black Bean Burgers. They hold together well, unlike some veggie burger recipies. This recipie makes four large patties. Enjoy.
Black Bean Burgers
Ingredients:
1 Tblsp Olive Oil
15 oz can Black Beans, drained and rinsed
1/4 red pepper, diced
1/4 green pepper, diced
1 medium onion, diced
1 garlic clove, minced
1 handful mushrooms, diced
1/2 tsp cumin
few dashes of cayanne powder
salt and pepper to taste
1 egg
3/4 cup bread crumbs (I’ve used Panko)
Directions:
Saute vegetables and spices on medium heat with olive oil until soft. Set aside.
Mash black beans in a bowl with a fork. Stir vegetable mixture into mashed beans. Stir in egg then stir in breadcrumbs. Mix well. Let sit for a few minutes.
Heat pan on medium. Form patties and place in pan. Partially cover pan and cook for five minutes on each side until browned.
Serve on buns or bread with your favorite toppings. Makes four large burgers.
Bust Magazines Craftacular
December 8, 2007
Today I went downtown to Bust Magazines Craftacular Craft Fair. Upon first entering the venue I wasn’t too pleased to find you had to pay to get in. It had been noted no where on any of the advertisements or website and all I could see was a line of people shoving dollars into a box. Luckily it was only 1 dollar – but please- if there is a cover you must disclose that fact! Anyway, the venue was quite large and there were 200+ vendors. I got there around noon and it was crowded. I picked up a few items that I couldn’t resist. I got a necklace from junxtaposition – an old typewriter key (my names’s first letter) on a simple ball chain. The other lovely item I purchased was from Little Flower Designs. Little Flower Designs is handmade pottery. It’s really amazing, though on the expensive side. The tea cup I picked up is pictured below and I simply love it.

Two other vendors I liked were Sarah Apple - block prints on shirts and such. I was going to get a nesting doll tee-shirt, but they were out of my size and Squidfire – more shirts with some really great and some not so great prints. I liked there outterspace and deep sea motifs.
Giraffe Wallets
December 7, 2007
I made two envelope style wallets. One is for a friend, the other is unadopted at this point. They measure 8.5″ x 5.5″ with appliqued giraffe’s in the same fabric as the wallet insides.

Heart & Soul Pilates
December 1, 2007
Heart & Soul Piliates is a piliates studio in Brooklyn NY. It opened in Williamsburg in Sept of this year. They offer reformer, springboard and mat classes at low rates. It is owned and run by a dear friend of mine – Marie Grillo and her twin sis Lora. Due to Marie’s unyeilding love of Piliates I have been taking classes with her and I’m amazed at the changes that have occured with my body. I am offically addicted. I feel tall, relaxed and strong after each session. I swear that my neck is longer and my waist has compressed to a smaller size. It’s simply awesome! So, here’s to Marie and her studios continued success!
Jasper
November 24, 2007
My sweet kitty Jasper passed away unexpectidly in the wee hours on Nov. 14. He was just 2 1/2 years and was the sweetist cuddly rascal I’ve known. It’s been harding dealing with his passing. Turns out he had a congenital heart defect and his little thumper just gave out.
I miss you little guy.

New Fabric
November 24, 2007
I got some new fabric from RepotDepot. I find it really hard shopping for fabric online as the texture and look can be totally off vs. in real life. Happily this order turned out well.

It’s been awhile
November 24, 2007
Well, it’s been awhile since I’ve posted anything on this blog. I finished another large tote/shopping bag, but this time it has longer handles so that one my wear it over the shoulder if need be. Below are the pics.

Sick
October 8, 2007
Ugh. Being sick sucks. You get to stay home from work for a day or two, which is awesome, however you can’t enjoy that time off. You feel too crap to do even the littlest things. Boredom reaches new heights. Sigh.
Dusty in mid stretch. . .

Denium Skirt
